Claudio Escutia

I was born in Mexico City and I come from a family of professional musicians.
After finishing classical guitar studies, at the School of Fine Arts, I moved to Montreal Canada to study Jazz music. Here I experienced the power of Yogic practices, and I became aware of the harmony between breathing, body, mind and soul.
In the mountains of Quebec I lived, studied and trained for 6 months in yoga and meditation at the Yoga Sivananda Vedanta Ashram. My teacher was the renowned professor Praladh, a direct student of Swami Vishnudevananda, one of the first teachers of India in introduce yoga in the West. Here I received my certification of 300 hours of Yoga by Yoga Alliance. After this intense training I began to teach Hatha Yoga in several studios in Montreal.
By 2012 I had moved to Europe, where I studied Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga in Jivamukti Berlin and Yin Yoga, guiding several workshops and retreats.
In 2013 I travelled to Nepal to study Sound Healing with Tibetan Bowls ,Gongs, Bells and Mantras taking certification and courses at the Kundalini Sound and Herbal Healing School in Kathmandu with the renowned teacher and healer Chaitanyashree. After Nepal, India beaconed me and I began to study the classical music of India on Sitar, Esraj and Bansuri as well as voice technique in Calcutta and Varanasi.
After this I returned to Mexico to teach for 3 years – Yin Yoga, Nada Yoga, Mantra Yoga and Sound Healing. In 2017 I arrived in New Zealand to live & teach and settle with my wife.
During my classes,I incorporate ancient and traditional techniques to harmonize body~consciousness~energy with the vibrations of Tibetan bowls, Mantras, Mudras and other Yogic offerings that take us on a journey to the heart & inner peace.

“I have found, through the practice of conscious movement, breath, sound & vibrations, the pathway in to inner silence and peace.”

Lana Bright
My career began as a teacher, coach, mentor and facilitator. Then in 2004 I fell in love with yoga, and in 2013 I trained as a yoga teacher. In 2014 I attended a workshop guided by Sarah Powers – Insight Yoga Institute: I was instantly struck by Sarah’s wisdom, eloquence and embodiment of the teachings. It seemed like an impossible dream at that time, but this lead me to straight away dedicate the next 2 years studying full time with Sarah and her husband Ty. I’m one of 20 teachers globally who is endorsed as a yoga teacher by Sarah Powers with IYI 500hrs+. Its a great honour and a deep responsibility too.
In November 2016 my husband and I had another dream – by February 2018 we opened Space Studio. We spoke of this labour of love as our, ‘fun project’, so that the immensity of building a purpose built studio behind our home wouldn’t be too overwhelming – ‘Just a little overwhelming from time to time.’

“You are like Rilke’s Swan in its awkward waddling across the ground;
the swan doesn’t cure its awkwardness by beating itself on the back,
by moving faster, or by trying to organize itself better. It does it by
moving toward the elemental water where it belongs. It is the simple
contact with the water that gives it grace and presence. You only have
to touch the elemental waters in your own life, and it will transform
everything”.
