Finding calmness, vitality & space

Staying well in Space

1. Choose a class that sounds appropriate for where your body and mind are at right now: Maybe you feel like something relaxing or maybe more of a physical workout. Take a look at our class menu & choose a time that you know you can commit to being there for the whole class.

2. Be Comfortable. Come along in clothing that’s comfortable for you eg if a t. shirt and shorts/track pants are comfy – then that will be perfect; if you’re a cyclist, and you’re arriving on your bike, – great your cycle gear is perfect …just not the mud! ; if you’ve run here – running gear is perfect ; if you have gym gear or yoga gear, that’s perfect too.

3. Bring a yoga mat or hire a studio mat for $2. Each hired mat is sprayed with tea tree oil after class and will dry naturally.

4. Bring a water bottle to hydrate or buy some s p a c e water for $4.

5. Arrive early – 20 mins is great, so that you can meet your teacher at reception, sign in without rushing, find your complimentary locker for your phone, valuables & clothes, explore a little and then enter the yoga studio. There is space here so you can relax. This is a modern studio – we clean & disinfect frequently.

6. You have arrived. Enjoy the view. The windows are often open, to encourage in fresh air for you to breath. Enjoy that this studio is a special space for you & others. No need to talk in this silent space. Just begin to hear birds, see clouds, feel a little breeze.

7. Notice if your teacher’s mat, visible at the front of the room, has a block or bolster or a strap on it ; That’s a hint to gather those props from the back of the room too. You’ll see them easily, waiting there for you.

8. When your teacher begins the class, know that you can always rest more & do less than they might suggest. Your teacher wants you to listen to your body and choose what’s best for you; Resting on your back, for the whole class, might just be your perfect class today. You’re allowed.

9. After class you might like to chat with your teacher at reception, and tell them about your experience of Space. This is a lovely community. Feel that you can chat to others too – and we offer a respectful distance to each other, so that you can come and practice and stay well.

10. If you’d like an intro class check out our Events Page – ‘Time & Space’ – for our next Beginners Intro to Yoga & Mindfulness: Limited to 18 people.
