Lana Bright

Owner & Director of SPACE Studio

I have been inspired by many extra-ordinary teachers in my life. My deep love of yoga and meditation has been strengthened by extensive training in body, mind & meditation with Sarah Powers, Insight Yoga Institute.  My mindfulness training also draws from the work of Dr Jon Kabat-Zinn,  my studies with the Mindfulness Training Institute Australasia and Dr Rick Hanson.
For 30 years I have taught, coached & mentored individuals, groups & teams, inviting them to focus on developing their strengths, while moving beyond barriers that limit their potential and their possibility to thrive.

Come and take a journey with me through the body, into the heart and into deep reservoirs of vitality, ease and peace.

I have come to understand the incredible support that mindfulness and calming breathing techniques offer us, as we meet tricky situations in our daily life. My broader career has been as a dental surgeon in hospitals and in private practices in NZ, London and Edinburgh.

Yoga, Meditation and Road cycling are an integral part of my life. My mother Jacqui introduced me to yoga when I was ten and meditation followed when I was a teenager. I  have loved studying extensively with Sarah & Ty Powers, Insight Yoga Institute.  My mindful meditation study has been inspired from time spent on retreat with neuro-psychologist – Dr Rick Hanson.

Yin Yoga is what I am drawn to teach in S p a c e. It’s a peaceful, mindful and revitalising practice. The breath is also an intrinsic part of nourishing the body and calming the mind. Yin invites us to return to our natural range of motion. We settle and inhabit shapes that are simple, still and deeply restorative. I look forward to enjoying S p a c e with you.

I was drawn to yoga as an adolescent seeking permission to simply be.
My mindfulness practice blossomed when I was welcomed into a women’s meditation community in Berkeley, California. Before following my heart to Aotearoa, I studied Ashtanga and vinyasa with Sam Vetrano, Tina Bock, and Irene Pappas; Sanskrit under Dr. Sally J. Sutherland-Goldman; Integral Yoga with Joel Altman in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

I’m passionate about sharing yoga as practice to lead a simple, kind, and blissful life.
My teaching blends compassionate inquiry, play, and practices to open channels of gratitude for this one human life and body we inhabit.

My journey with Yoga started a decade ago in Ubud (Bali) when I was first introduced to Kundalini Tantra Yoga by Ketut Arsana. After a month of intense practise, I felt incredibly empowered by the vitality and clarity in my body-mind. This glimpse of the body as an amazing vehicle for transformation ignited my enquiry into the science of yoga — and it hasn’t stopped since. I started teaching yoga 4 years ago and I am currently studying with the school of Embodied Flow.

Originally from the Netherlands, I’ve grown my roots in Aotearoa over the last 5 years. Observing nature inspires my practice, as does a te ao Māori lens on wellbeing – interdependent and integrated (Dr. Rangimarie et al.).
Play and curiosity is my mantra. I look forward to exploring new pathways of movement and connection together with you!

*I’m currently on sabbatical from teaching in Space, but you will find me on Space’s ‘Yoga on Demand Videos’.

I am a passionate yoga teacher and my teaching integrates asana, philosophy, meditation, pranayama breath control and music.
I was born in the sunny Canary Islands (Spain). In 2017, I moved to Australia and devoted a year to yoga teacher training at the Byron Yoga Centre in NSW.
I then began to teach yoga in Byron Bay and I travelled and taught in the Canary Islands & in Sri
Lanka before finally arriving in NZ and making Wellington my sangha.
When I’m not teaching or practicing yoga I’m employed in graphic design, delving into spiritual books or looking out for waves to surf and sunshine to drop into.

I’m looking forward to meeting you.
I’m currently away from S p a c e travelling, but you’ll find me teaching on Space’s ‘Yoga on Demand Videos’. I return to beautiful Space every few months to teach and play.

‘I am… So hum.’

I am Aria, Italian born and one who embarked on a soul searching journey 10 years ago. In the sacred city of Varanasi, India, I began my initial 200 hours of Hatha Teacher Training. My journey has taken me so far – to many places in the world and within myself and now I am living and teaching in your land, Aotearoa.

‘Sat-chit-ananda’ ~ ‘realising the unity + wholeness of all existence’, is a Sanskrit concept that I connect with deeply. Since leaving Italy, changing places, exploring retreats and teaching, this is how I choose to connect with life and find strength and peace.

My teaching draws from ancient wisdom and I bring into class Yogic philosophy, Pranayama, Meditation & Asana . I also integrate Yin & Yang, Chant and silence as ways to bring to light the intention of each practice.

I am passionate about establishing harmony in the body, mind & spirit. I believe that movement is medicine and I encourage creativity, curiosity and play into each class. Non-judgement is also offered and fostered to care for our beautiful vulnerabilities.
Come and enjoy.

I started my own yoga practice more than a decade ago. Since then I have been so lucky to teach hatha, vinyasa and yin yoga to thousands of students. The possibility to share my own passion with others is simply a gift and I feel blessed to call this ‘my job’.

The intention of my classes is to create a safe space where students can explore what feels right and reconnect with their own inner guidance. I love my teaching to be light and fun, creative and with space for everyone to enjoy the journey.

I hold a degree in sports and health, I’m a qualified relaxation and life coach and a traveler at heart.
I’m currently away from S p a c e for now.

Back pain and an unexplainable curiosity brought me to yoga 15 years ago. The relief from chronic pain was incredible, but even more magic was the discovery of an inner space where I felt anchored, alive, and resilient.

Originally certified in Anusara Yoga, I have been teaching yoga classes, workshops, and teacher trainings in New Zealand since 2005. My current approach blends skillful, organic physical alignment into progressive, sustainable flow. Every class blends down-to-earth practicality with soulful intention. Deeply informed by applied psychology and Non-Violent Communication as well as long time studies in non dual Tantra (modern yoga philosophy), I believe yoga can help us cultivate a deep and intimate awareness, so that what grows over time is the possibility of really knowing ourselves and the ability to make choices that truly serve us and our relationships with others. My love for yoga ignited when I discovered it was a system that would hold me in all my flaws and beauty and allow me to explore my most authentic self.

I have studied and taught for the last 7 years a variety of styles starting with a Diploma in Yoga and Dip Yoga Therapy from Wellpark College of Natural Therapies.

I love creating space for others to explore their own innate alignment and wisdom, while providing flow and inspiration. Expect to feel held, honoured and inspired. My purpose is to serve the wholeness of life.

I’ve recently relocated to Takaka. See you there!

My love for yoga is firmly rooted in the lightness of being that arises following a full practice that is nourishing and well rounded.

This translates beautifully into my teaching: safe and accessible classes that create a space for reflection, self-acceptance and inquiry. All of my classes promote easeful breath and movement to allow the development of strength and ease in the body and the inner layers.

My hope is that through yoga students will experience continued growth and enhanced self-awareness.

My yoga journey began in my teens, when I was training to be a dancer. I continued to dabble with yoga and other physical activities until I began a dedicated practice 8 years ago. This ritual of coming to the mat allowed me to create a base, a foundation and a place to come back to from the fast pace of life.

Yoga is also a daily part of my treatment and rehabilitative physiotherapy practice, working at the National Dance School, The NZ School of Dance.

I studied Physiotherapy and have a Post Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy. I enjoy the service of teaching yoga and in particular bringing a strong anatomical knowledge to my classes.

I have also completed yin trainings with Joe Barnett, Murielle Buriellier and Sebastian Pucelle.

I began practising yoga over 10 years ago. Slowly, slowly, step-by-step, I deepened my practice until eventually I began teaching. I have been privileged to teach yoga around the world (UK: Glasgow; Canada: Montréal; South Goa & Dharamsala: India). However, it is my greatest pleasure to share the sacred art of yoga at home in New Zealand.

Mostly, I teach an alignment based vinyasa flow. For me, ‘flow’ is a state of mind. Yoga flow is about full immersion in each movement and breath. I encourage students to embody the rhythm of their breath and to observe without judgment of, or resistance to, the natural flow of awareness.
My teaching style uses breath and alignment to enable students to explore how they are in this moment, to express their own truth and to experience constant change or impermanence.

My main teachers and inspiration are Jason Crandell and Vipassana meditation.

I was born in Mexico City and I come from a family of professional musicians.
After finishing classical guitar studies at the School of Fine Arts, I moved to Montreal, Canada to study Jazz music. Here I came in contact with the power of ancient Yogic practices and so began yoga accreditation at the Yoga Sivananda Vedanta Ashram. Until I arrived in NZ in 2017, I taught and studied around the world: Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at Jivamukti, Berlin; Nepal for Sound Healing with Tibetan Bowls, Gongs, Bells and Mantras; classical music of India on Sitar, Esraj and Bansuri and voice techniques in Calcutta and Varanasi.
During my classes, I explore sacred techniques to harmonize physical, mental and emotional energies with the sound of Tibetan bowls, Mantras, Mudras and other Yoga offerings: This is a journey in and a journey out to the frequency of peace.
